Open Door Ministy is a Ministry of Horse Gate Equestrian Center
After being in ministry we began to understand the need to provide people their basic needs before you can share with them the unconditional love of Christ.  In 2007 Horse Gate adopted the Open Door Ministry.  We are a bunch of folks who love God, love people and hate the idea that in the 21 century in America there are people still suffering deprivation and hunger.  We were involved in a feeding ministgry that closed down; however, with the sponsorship of Horse Gate, the kindness of some God fearing people and the grace of God Almighty, we are able to do what we love to do.  Open Door Ministry started out by delivering Thanksgiving dinners to a few families in 2007.  This was our first official endeavor as Open Door.  We continued delivering groceries to families on a weekly basis for quite some time.  Some of us would shop, some would put the grocery bags together and then most of us would go out and deliver them.  We supported them until we felt these families would be alright without us and God called us to do something else.  At the moment, God laid on our hearts an incredible ministry called Firewall.  Firewall is an inner city church that helps youth with school work and other day to day necessitys.  Many of these students ofthen have no one available to help.  Every Thursday evening we head out to Firewall and do what we do.  We are feeding around 65 teenagers every week (sometimes more, sometimes less).  It a is very exciting thing and we hope to be doing it for a very one time.  We are open to God's leading.   Today it's Firewall, tomorrow, who knows.
